DWC CPAs and Advisors is pleased to announce that Brian D. Berger has recently earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and obtained Colorado licensure after successfully passing the Uniform CPA Examination. Established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Uniform CPA Examination protects the public interest by ensuring that only qualified individuals become licensed as U.S. Certified Public Accountants.
Originally from Lincoln, CA, Brian moved to Glenwood Springs, joining DWC in January 2024 after nearly six years with a California accounting firm. As a tax senior, he primarily serves small businesses and business owners in the financial, agricultural, and outdoor sectors. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management economics with an emphasis on accounting from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a master’s in accounting from Sacramento State University. Brian is a professional member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Colorado Society of CPAs. Outside the office, he is an avid triathlete, ultra runner, and two-time Ironman finisher.
To attain a CPA license, qualified applicants must pass a four-part exam with 14 hours of testing in auditing and attestation, business environment and concepts, financial accounting and reporting, and regulation. The test is one of four requirements to attain CPA licensure in Colorado – education, ethics discipline, and experience are also needed. To maintain the CPA certification, licensees are required to take annual continuing professional education courses and other opportunities for professional development.
