Dalby, Wendland & Co., P.C., is pleased to announce Grand Junction accountant Brandon S. Warnock recently attained the designation of Enrolled Agent (EA), which is the highest credential awarded by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Brandon started with Dalby Wendland’s Grand Junction tax office as an intern in January of 2018, and joined the firm full time in August of 2018, after graduating from Colorado Mesa University with a bachelor’s degree in public accounting. As a staff accountant, Brandon assists individuals and businesses with income tax preparation and particularly enjoys working with farming and real estate clients due to the complexity of their industries and tax requirements.
EA designation is considered a tax specialist. It gives the authority to represent taxpayers before the IRS and EA’s are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what type of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before. EA’s are licensed on a federal level.
To become an EA, individuals must take a comprehensive three part exam focused on individuals, business entities, and representation, practice, and procedures, or they must have at least five years of IRS work experience. Once the individuals are licensed, they must adhere to ethical standards and are required to complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.
