DWC CPAs and Advisors is pleased to announce Erin E. Darnell, Audit Supervisor, recently attained the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and Colorado licensing after passing the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination. Set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Uniform CPA Examination protects the public interest by helping to ensure that only qualified individuals become licensed as U.S. Certified Public Accountants.
Originally from south Louisiana, Erin ventured to Colorado to attend Western Colorado University, where she attained a Bachelor of Science in business administration with an emphasis in accounting and economics. Since joining the DWC audit team in 2021, she has gained expertise in providing attest and accounting services such as financial statement audits, reviews, compilations, agreed-upon procedures, and client accounting services for a wide variety of clients in several industries, including financial institutions, healthcare, life and health insurance, retail, nonprofits, homeowners’ associations, and employee benefit plans, including 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, and health and welfare plans. Erin is a member of the Colorado Society of CPAs.
To attain a CPA license, qualified applicants must pass a four-part exam with 14 hours of testing in auditing and attestation, business environment and concepts, financial accounting and reporting, and regulation. The test is one of four requirements to attain CPA licensure in Colorado – education, ethics discipline, and experience are also needed. To maintain the CPA certification, licensees are required to take annual continuing professional education courses and other opportunities for professional development.
We congratulate Erin on her accomplishment!
