DWC CPAs and Advisors is announcing the retirement of Donna M. Hardy, CPA, CVA. With deep admiration for Donna’s four decades of dedication to public accounting, the firm is honored to commemorate her legacy in a special way.
In recognition of Donna’s outstanding contributions and heartfelt appreciation for her own personal educational journey at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), formerly Mesa State College, DWC is proud to provide an accounting scholarship in her name for the 2024-25 academic year.
Longtime associate, friend, and DWC CEO Chris West says, “Donna taught me and many others in our firm how to be an exceptional accountant. She is always supportive and encouraging to her team. It’s only fitting that we honor Donna’s retirement wishes by giving a gift in her name to support the next generation of public accountants.”
Donna’s career began after completing a vocational program in accounting and business administration. Wanting to establish a career in the industry, she joined DWC CPAs and Advisors (known then as Dalby, Wendland & Co., P.C.). Her commitment to learning led her to leave the firm to pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting from CMU and return to DWC in 1990 with the drive and enhanced skills to help clients succeed. She became a shareholder of the firm in 2001, a tax principal in 2005, and served on DWC’s board of directors.
Throughout her tenure, Donna specialized in various industries, notably construction, farm and ranch, and medical practices. Her expertise in tax planning, compliance, and consulting, along with her dedication to exceptional client service, has been instrumental to the firm’s success.
Beyond her professional achievements, Donna’s compassionate spirit is reflected through her involvement with local nonprofits and community groups. She served on the executive committee and was a board director of the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, secretary/treasurer for Redlands Village Ditch Co., and is a past treasurer for numerous nonprofits, including Performing Arts Conservatory Inc., Western Slope Center for Children, and Grant a Wish Program.
Donna’s dedication to service exemplifies the values we hold dear at DWC, reflecting her commitment to making a positive impact during her accounting career. As Donna enters retirement, we express our gratitude for her contributions and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
